With the genral distant softness of the recordings, I dont feel as though im listening to a locomotive horn. It could almost be an an artificial sound . A happy medium would be a powerfull pass by with the ambient blasts included ,

There would be no way to know without making a relationship of the total internal volume and the frequency , determine the key to add water and know how many hertz your pouring into a measuring cup... This horn isn't accurately tuned in the first place.

It wasn't a terrible sounding horn. Its probably his own creation the way he presented it .

Another type of failure is the lodged debris chip causing a dead bell. I may be wrong though, about the powerchamber being completely resistant to strange warping or wear patterns from a heavy service life. On the other hand, a K bell can be missing chunks from the nozzle and still work...

My only other theory would be that it's an EX Amtrak horn and its heavy usage caused an unknown wear problem . The back cap could be warped , the bell side is not really susceptible to warping. Really interesting problem . Set up the 5 on a bench and an air tool to blow it and try swapping other bac...

The diaphragm crowning relief hole should be clear. If its plugged, or anything is wrong with that, you are diving into a more conplex solution.
