Airchime KM Diagrams

Postby railgeek » Sat Apr 07, 2018 2:51 am

Here are several engineering diagrams for KM series ship horns. They use the same principle as regular K series horns, but the diaphragms are much larger, and older power chambers were made of bronze. New power chambers are made of aluminum.

One thing to note is that the bells are curved at the rear to allow for water to drain out of them, since they're intended for marine use.

The KM 85, 110, 135, 165, 200, and 250 are located below, with each number representing the Hz value of the bell. All power chambers are the same. Kahlenberg bought Airchime's marine horn division after Airchime was sold to Nathan / Micro Precision, and with that they discontinued the KM85.

These horns are most famous for being used as the Heritage Horns on top of Canada Place in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. They sound the first four notes of O'Canada, Canada's national anthem, at noon each day. https://www.canadaplace.ca/experience/heritage-horns/

And this last one is not a KM series horn, but I didn't think it deserved it's own post.
