New Australian K-5UL's

Postby Casey Carlson » Fri Apr 14, 2017 4:26 pm

Hi All,

I've got several new Aussie K-5UL-AU-LS horns available at the asking price of $1,350.00 each. These were surplus from the stock applied to the CBH and CFCLA units built by MPI.

Thank you!

Hi Petrikov,

Yes indeed, one is a 3B.

Thanks,

Glad you got that horn. They all should have KSP lettering on those bells "not" 3B which is 440htz any way. My horn as it was a test proto-type horn have the KSP lettering engraved on the sides but yours should be stamped KSP by the Nathan factory ?

You can paint it Aussie Satin Black ( Made by Galmet Paints ) or as some loco's have left them unpainted.
I bolted my bells on K5H manifold as its easier to operate than on that long skinny manifold. The base has no 1/2" pipe hole as you would have seen so you'll have to block off one base air hole then jump a cross over pipe over the 1bell from the top manifold ports to make them work all together.

I don't like that manifold they made for it as its not that strong any way and a good hit to any of the outer bell will snap that manifold. Need to remove that 1 bell to bolt manifold on to your mount as the rear bolts are a prick to get on and do up.

Its unique sounding horn to what you Americans a use to and hear on a daily basis.
Hope you can YouTube it for us to sound ? Also they would be rare in the US ?

Start blowing it now

I had the exact same idea, mount the bells on an 'H' bracket (not only do I hate the sound of the K5LA, I even hate the sight of them) and paint the horn using my standard Rust-Oleum 'high heat' satin black enamel. :)
