80's Straight 4 Bell

Postby Jason453 » Sun Jan 07, 2018 11:34 pm

Hi guys, I have a 80's straight number 4 bell, with the 80's wide font back cap. I was just seeing if you guys would know the rarity and value of this bell? Thanks!

Take off back cap and measure tuning bore depth.
Is a shallow bore or a deep bore ? That will tell what it is and value.

Thanks! I am not the best on telling what a horn is, but it does have shallow bore.

If the tuning bore is about 2 mm deep then that bell from the 80"s is worth about $200 as it is. I've heard that Nathan make the 4 & 4A bells to the same bore depth even though one has an A stamp ?

I have got a current raised No-4 bell factory made with the shallow bore to play the 512 hertz spec as yours would have. Your shallow bore are harder to find and get "but" you can get them in later versions if your lucky.
