Airchime KMJ-234

Postby NKP765 » Tue May 24, 2016 3:09 pm

Question:

What would the prices and availability of a used Airchime KMJ-234 be? I'm assuming a new set would be in the thousands, although I am not that good with pricing on marine type horns.

I've been looking to acquire one for a while, just have not been able to obtain a lot of info on this type.

Thanks!

The KMJ-234 was discontinued when kahlenberg took over Airchime. I only know of 2 in collections and 1 in the Consol arena.

Of the research I did, that was what I came up with, plus as you said the Consol Center and the one at the Pen's minor league affiliate's arena in Wilkes-Barre. I have a feeling this is going to be a difficult and costly search to obtain a set.

Hello
You can still purchase a single kmj4 and base. Cost is about 750 dollars.

Rest of the line has been discontinued.

These horns are some of the most melodious horns I've ever heard.

I'll try to post some more pictures later.

I have a feeling this will be incredibly difficult to find, if I even find one at all. I guess possibly piecing it together could work, but even that sounds like a steep hill to climb. Now this part will sound crazy (mostly everything after this sentence!), but if all of the bells were able to be obtained, could it be mounted on a K3 bracket as a stand-in?

Hello. I believe they could be using a couple of these as goal horns for some hockey teams. Good luck trying to pry that away from a team as they often become a beloved sound. These were used in a very small niche market to duplicate do use of D2 and D3 Kahlenberg horns on tug boats, and small oceangoing vessel's of the same size. And small oceangoing vessel's of the same size. However i've never even seen one in a photo on a vessel.

Piecing one together would probably be harder than putting Humpty Dumpty back together. Lol

If you could please get back to gather yes it would work on a standard K-3 manifold

I have posted a video on YouTube if you search KMJ234

#2 = 208hz
#5 = 370hz

Here are a few pictures. The red and black horn is a 234. And the tan and black horn is a 345.
