NdeM Mexican Alco FA2 disposition information

Postby Derailed 2005 » Mon Mar 20, 2017 6:35 pm

Hi, I'm trying to find out what happened to National of Mexico (NdeM) Alco FA2's after they were retired. Road numbers were approximately 6507-6522, all built mid-1951. I have a horn that I strongly suspect was from one of them. I can find NdeM FA2 in-service images up until late 1974, after that the trail goes cold. Were they all scrapped, or were some sold on the secondhand market?

X2200 South used to do a good job of tracking domestic dispositions, not sure about foreign units.

Thanks for any help,
Ron

Hi Ron,

You might want to give the Santa Fe 59L Restoration crew a shout at http://www.museumoftheamericanrailroad.org/. They are in contact with their Mexican counterparts and may be able to give you leads.

Best regards,
Ron

Ron, I did contact Mr. Willis today, and he's doing some checking around for me.

Thanks for the tip.

Ron
