Shinkansen (Bullet Train) Horns - What Are They?

Postby Tyfon Hawk » Fri Aug 10, 2018 10:46 am

Hello Fellow Horn Enthusiasts,

Would anyone know what type of horn(s) the Shinkansen, or Bullet Trains of Japan use?
They seem to produce a multi tone pitch but a Google search was not successful.
There are, of course multiple types of Shinkansen but since horns from different generations seem to sound rather similar, I wondered if they all use a standard set (like most British Rail era diesel trains used.)

I look forward to reading your suggestions.
Tyfon Hawk.

A quick YouTube search pulled this up. No idea what these are or who makes them, but at least this is a place to start, maybe?
