Kmj-234 restoration

Postby Cusz721 » Tue Mar 26, 2019 8:47 am

Hi everyone,

I stumbled on this site while searching for some information. I happened to come across a complete kmj-234, and i am restoring them. Does anyone know what color they were originally painted? Thank you in advance!

Thank you! Rustoleum light machine grey it is. For those interested, i am not a collector, and will be selling this set once restoration is finished. How much would a good selling price for these be?

I'll be your first buyer, name your price, also check your PM's as it'll be easier to communicate through them.

Hey. Cool find. Do you have any photos to post? Unfortunately there are not many ship horn guys left. Here is my set. I picked them up a few years back, they were new old stock. I got them for $1100. Kahlenberg and their partner Edwards sells them for astronomical prices because ship companies will pay it. However if you get a hold of their distributors new ones are a third of the price. And yes the gentleman above is correct. I contacted airchime, the original manufacture years ago and was told they actually used a form of commercial rustoleum paint and the title was light machine grey. Hope this helps

Thank you everyone for all your responses and help. The horns are finally finished, and i will be posting pictures very soon. The horns will be put up for sale. I was able to save all the original hardware except the three 1/8 pipe plugs on the diaphragm, which were replaced. I will be including them with the horns as well as the rest of the paint for touch ups if necessary. I also left the diaphragm cover bolts in natural stainless instead of painting them. I figured it's easier for the buyer to paint them if they like. Right now i am open for negotiations on price as these are going to go fast. Thank you again!
